Telefónica launches new Big Data solutions for companies
During the LUCA Innovation Day 2018 event, under the motto “Science without fiction”, Telefónica’s data unit presented the multisectorial offer of Big Data evolving with the integration of new advanced analytical capabilities thanks to technologies such as machine learning and deep learning capabilities from Telefónica’s Fourth Platform, where all the data generated by customers is normalized and processed by using the company’s products and services, guaranteeing privacy and security of the data.
Movistar Ads launches Sponsored Data and Data Rewards in Argentina
Owing to two of the main concerns of mobile phone users, battery life and connectivity, Telefónica will launch in Argentina two commercial strategies that will get involved both brands and advertisers: Sponsored Data solutions, which Movistar is already using, and Data Rewards, which is still in development but it is expected to be launched for the second half of the year.
Telefónica chosen to undertake the digital transformation of Avianca
The meeting with analysts and corporate clients organized by Telefónica in Madrid, was the meeting point for hundreds of consultants from companies such as Gartner, Ovum and Forrester. Telefónica presents the latest innovations in AI and Big Data in Cáceres
The exhibition, called innovaTe2018, allowed visitors to see and interact with some of the technologies presented this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. LUCA showed several demos like the project “prediction of air quality in cities”, LUCA tourism, which shows the movement of citizens and tourists before an event in a specific area, and Sports Analytics; a demo with one of Movistar Team’s bikes, that showed metrics with Big Data during a simulation of the Lagos de Covadonga stage.

The “Things Matter” conference, organized by Telefonica in Malaga, addressed how digital transformations and the introduction of technology to production can help take businesses forward. Real use cases were presented and helped show how one can apply technology to various areas of the business model. When technology is present in production, processing, logistics and point of sale, the entire process can become more efficient, the client can have clearer information, and the business can make better decisions.
Cost savings and improved fleet management thanks to ‘big data’
Telefónica I + D develops LUCA Fleet in Boecillo, an application to modernize the business of vehicle fleets, and according to those responsible for the product: “make their management more efficient and increase safety”. This solution complements the already existing IoT-based fleet and mobility management products, “offering a superior layer of analytics and visualization of data that directly impacts decision-making and the setting of new objectives”.
