Telefónica and OMT collaborate in order to encourage the digitalisation of the tourist sector

Telefónica and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) announced this Tuesday an alliance to collaborate in the development and implementation of entrepreneurship and training initiatives which allow the tourism sector to become more competitive and reinforce its sustainability in the long-term. The Big Data analysis allows the understanding of behavioural patterns with which you can better face some of the challenges facing tourism in Latin America and Europe, as well as extracting relevant conclusions which influence decision making and the creation of public policies. Telefónica, through LUCA, are already working with national and local tourist organisations in 8 countries in Latin America and Europe on more than 40 projects.

Telefónica and China Unicom incorporate JD Digits on their ‘joint venture’ of ‘Big Data’

The chinese technology JD Digits has become a Smart Steps investor, the ‘joint venture’ created in 2015 by Telefónica and China Unicom to offer ‘Big Data’ services to corporate clients in China. “Counting on JD Digits as a business strategy will not only pose a great support from a business point of view, but also acts as a recognition of the potential of our Big Data technologies, which with our experience we offer to corporate clients all around the world through LUCA, our data unit”, stated Jacobo García-Palencia, Director of Strategic Alliances at Telefónica.

Alzheimer prevention project wins the DSA 2018

Pablo López has won the prize for the best Data Scientist at the 2018 Data Science Awards for his project that predicts Alzheimer’s at an early stage. The objective now is for the project to move into a second phase and become a reality in the medical environment. “The key is to confirm the differential characteristics that have been observed and thus leave an algorithmic basis to build on as more data is collected,” says López.

Big Data improves sports performance and expands horizons for new businesses
