Movistar extends its student suppor to 2021
Telefónica celebrates the renewal of its sponsorship of the Movistar Student Basketball Club. Movistar will continue supporting the students for at least 2 more seasons, their most “differential” sponsorship, in the words of Telefónica’s President, Emilio Gayo. Also, he mentioned the technological contributions made by Telefónica to this sport, “through LUCA we support the development of tools which aid in the decisions of the technical personnel of the the club as well as to improve sporting performance, thanks to advanced data analysis dashboards for teams and players.
500 students delude themselves with new technologies
On the day of the Teleco Day Conference (UCAM), 500 high school students from different centres around the region came together with the objective of Antonio Pita, responsible for LUCA Consulting & Analytics, gave the inaugural conference in which he discussed the application of Data Science to sport to improve the performance of sportspeople, like in cycling o e-sports with the Sports Analytics area of LUCA.
Telefónica excels in new business ventures
Telefónica continues with the advance into new business ventures linked with information technologies with special emphasis placed on the corporate sector. TELCO has advanced in areas such as the cloud, cybersecurity and big data, thanks to units such as LUCA, situated at Telefónica España as a third party provider in the Spanish market only behind IBM and Indra, according to estimations form Gartner consultants.
Operators outline digital health data challenges
In a panel session during Mobile World Congress 2019 together with McKinsey partner Harrison Lung they mentioned how mobile operators currently lack the capabilities to make full use of data in the digital health space. Elena Gil countered Telefónica have embarked on digital transformation which is bringing them valuable experience of big data and AI and stands them in good stead to target healthcare opportunities.
Talent, an obstacle in the implementation of Big Data in Mexico… and around the world
Elena Gil opened the latest TIC Forum Mexico by putting Big Data at the forefront of the digital transformation, emphasizing the need for specialized profiles in this field, “although the potential of Big Data is known, the lack of specialized talent is one of the main barriers to implementing this tool.” Moreover, she recommended that the implementation of Big Data be a decision taken by the senior management for it to be an initiative that will permeate throughout the whole organization.
ProFuturo digital education model supported by Mobile Learning Week 2019
The 8th edition of Mobile Learning Week 2019 will bring together international experts to debate about the opportunities and threats of the use of AI in education (especially in developed countries). In this edition the ProFuturo Foundation will participate as an associate aiming to improve the quality of education for children in vulnerable situations, and will also present “the evaluation of the impact of education programmes: methods and case studies” (the case of EduCaixa and ProFuturo Perú), in a workshop lead by “la Caixa”, ProFuturo and LUCA.
