How to digitalize the Colombian public administration

“Technology goes faster than we are able to regulate”
In the VI edition of the e-volution congress organized by El Norte de Castilla, the focus was on issues such as the need for society to accelerate the process of equating technological evolution. Elena Gil, CEO of LUCA, shared her thoughts on how regulations such as the recent one in May by the European Union help limit the use of data by companies, although there is still a need to evolve in terms of transparency and control for «helping to stop what the company can use».

Elena Gil, CEO of LUCA, showed her gratitude for the good reception of the TIC TIC Forum event in Colombia. Affirming that it is the year in which both LUCA and Big Data will explode in the country, due to the maturity and existing technological capabilities, which will make Big Data a reality.

Telefonica Business Solutions creates the first Big Data business unit in Central America
Telefonica Business Solutions has recently created the first Big Data business unit in Central America, to offer clients of the region all the potential that these new technologies offer and the tools associated to data management. As background, in October 2016, Telefónica created its global unit LUCA, in order to meet the need of companies to make decisions based on data, and accelerate the adoption of Big Data in their business processes.
First results of the Mapa OOH project in Brazil
On March 26, Clear Channel, JCDecaux and Otima presented the results of the OOH map campaign in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with LUCA, Telefónica’s data unit. The initiative was implemented in April 2017 with the aim of verifying the effectiveness of outdoor advertising with solutions such as LUCA OOH Audience, through the fusion of a great variety of data from Telefónica, capable of providing a more in-depth view of different locations.
LUCA Telefonica: The Big Data unit for businesses arrives in Chile
During the “Big Data Innovation Day 2018 Chile”, Chema Alonso, Telefonica’s CDO, and Elena Gil, CEO at LUCA, Telefonica’s data unit, showed the benefits surrounding data and the benefits of incorporating it in businesses. The key speakers presented the advances that have taken place recently and accounced the launch of LUCA in Chile, alongside Muvio and Geo, developed by Telefonica’s R+D center in the country.
Telefonica and Huawei launch a packet of big data products for businesses
Telefonica and Huawei have launched a packet of Big Data As-A-Service products under its LUCA brand. They are designed to help businesses accelerate their digital transformation and be more competitive. The agreement offers clients four main services: the Hortonworks data platform for storing, processing and analyzing data; Big Data Integration to migrate data to the cloud; Data Governance to control the quality and security of data and Data Miner to help extract information from data using analytical algorithms with integrations for structured and unstructured data.
