Telefónica launches the 4th edition of the awards for the best data analytics projects
At LUCA we have launched the 4th edition the Data Science Awards for the best data analytics projects, at which we look to recognise analytical talent and the work of data analytics professionals in Spain in fields such as sport, health, the detection of ‘fake news’ and the environment. Through three categories of awards we want to detect and show the new trends in the application of data science, which is having an ever greater impact on business and society.
V Awards We Are All Students 2019 recognise innovation and values
In the 5th “Todos somos estudiantes” Awards Ceremony of Movistar Estudiantes they recognised all the people and entities who share the values which make it such a unique and special club. The Sports Analytics area of LUCA received the prize for Innovation and Creation. Antonio Magariños, for the collaboration with the Movistar Students basketball team through the development of tools which supports the decisions of the technical personnel of the club and help to improve sporting performance, thanks to adavcned data analysis dashboards for teams and players.

The “Universo Penteo” on Big Data & Analytics Integrators 2019 shows how Telefónica extends its Big data and analytics services rendered on an internal level, offering clients our know-how and innovative solutions. Also highlighting our positioning, which was reinforced after the inclusion of Synergic Partners and the impulse of LUCA, giving a significant rise in clients in the past year.

In their first time taking part in the Digital Enterprise Show, which will be celebrated in Madrid between he 21st and 23rd of May, Telefónica will present its 360 degree views of the digital transformation and its application in the business world to all the companies who are there. Chema Alonso, Ferran Adrià and José María Cuellar will be the three ambassadors. Big Data will also play a main part in this event. As a matter of fact, Elena Gil, global director of Big Data at Telefónica and CEO of LUCA, will give a presentation, connecting big data and artificial intelligence with business in order to arrive at how these technologies can help to accelerate the transformation process by opening the businesses up.

At the I-COM Global event 2019, the most important annual event in the world of Smart Data Marketing, data experts investigate the damage and harm which erroneous AI which is in development can do to brands. Movistar extends its student suppor to 2021
Telefónica celebrates the renewal of its sponsorship of the Movistar Student Basketball Club. Movistar will continue supporting the students for at least 2 more seasons, their most “differential” sponsorship, in the words of Telefónica’s President, Emilio Gayo. Also, he mentioned the technological contributions made by Telefónica to this sport, “through LUCA we support the development of tools which aid in the decisions of the technical personnel of the the club as well as to improve sporting performance, thanks to advanced data analysis dashboards for teams and players.
